Textured

Embellishing pieces can be done either as THE reason for the piece, or as a way of adding interest.  Recently we had a demonstration of what is know as “basket illusion”.  David Nittmann coined the term, although he did not develop the technique.  My first attempt was a plate using a pattern which appears to be a weave.

My next piece used a Southwestern Indian pattern, sorry I haven’t been able to find which tribe it was yet.  In this case, the embellishment is only on the outside, with the inside being finished to allow it to be a functional piece. (i need to take a picture)

I enjoy looking for ways to get “motion”.  Here are a couple of pieces that I like.
